First UNWTO International Conference on Tourism and the Media was held at hotel Westin in Zagreb on September 12th and 13th. The aim was to analyze the relationship between tourism and media and address why, despite being one of the world’s largest economic sectors, tourism is not sufficiently featured in the political, business or financial news.
The Conference ended by signing Zagreb Declaration on Positioning Tourism in the Media, which determined new ways for media to position tourism as the driving force of economic growth, raising employment rates and sustainable development.
450 delegates from around the world gathered in Westin Crystal Ballroom in Zagreb, under organization of UNWTO, Croatian Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian government. The conference was appraised successful by the attendees and had world class quality organization.
